Point Malcolm Reserve
The Point Malcolm Reserve is a pleasant recreational reserve located adjacent to the beachside suburb of Semaphore in Adelaide's north. Part of the reserve's major redevelopment program included the refurbishment of two tennis courts and a basketball court.
The local council, the Charles Sturt Council, initially wanted quotes for a floodlighting system using a traditional metal halide lighting system on 10m light towers. Following an inspection of the courts and the surrounding environment, it became apparent that a tall tower lighting system would not only detract from the natural beachside landscape, but would also result in unwanted "spill light" to neighbouring properties.
After an extensive tender evaluation, the Charles Sturt Council selected the HAWKeye low mount LED system. The Point Malcolm Reserve public tennis courts are now used by hundreds of people each week, all of whom are reaping the benefits of brighter, more environmentally friendly and unobtrusive LED lighting.
